Amy Kunstle, Registered Dietitian and Certified Speech-Language Pathologist

Hello! My name is Amy Kunstle! I am a bit of a hybrid having found two fields that I greatly enjoy-nutrition and speech-language pathology. I received my undergraduate degree in Human Nutrition & Dietetics from Colorado State University and completed my internship at Barnes Hospital, St. Louis, Missouri. Following graduation, I enjoyed working at St. Mary-Corwin Regional Medical Center focusing on general in/out-patient medical nutrition therapy and specializing in nutrition support. In 1997 I was delighted to complete my Masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois and then enjoy my clinical fellowship at Parkview Medical Center.
One of my greatest joys has been the ability to complete my education and training and bring my knowledge and opportunities to the hometown that I adore. I have been so lucky to work with so many talented individuals and dynamic agencies including: the Colorado Bluesky Infant-Toddler Program, Part-C Services, the Health Care Program for Children with Special Needs, and the Southern Colorado Voice Center at the ENT Center of Pueblo, LLC.
In 2003, my dreams of owning my own business and working part-time while raising my kids were fulfilled with the founding of Bellwether Nutrition & Speech-Language Pathology Services, Inc. What started out as a small private practice in <300 square feet has grown to include nine dynamic professional contractors working in a newly renovated "dream" space of 2000 square feet in the beautiful Union Avenue Historic District.
I could not be more pleased and celebrate every day the ability to enjoy what I do with such great people in a beautiful environment.
My interests are varied but I have completed specialty training as follows:
I am married to a lovely Renaissance man and am the proud mother of two darling children, one beautiful bichon frise, two cats, and one chinchilla. I am proud to be a native Puebloan.

Robin Ahlenius, Certified Occupational Therapist:

Hello! My name is Robin Ahlenius! After graduating from the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Washington, I began my career twenty years ago as an Occupational Therapist on the spinal cord injury team at Craig Rehabilitation Hospital in metropolitan Denver. Over the next ten years, I worked in several different areas, including general rehabilitation, acute care, school-based therapy, and adult and pediatric out-patient therapy.
Since moving to Pueblo ten years ago, I have specialized in out-patient care for adults and kids with an emphasis on neuro and sensory processing issues. I use an eclectic approach incorporating concepts of sensory integration, neurodevelopmental therapy, and age-appropriate functional developmental treatment to help clients achieve their full potential. Heather achieved her Master's Degree in speech-language pathology from the University of Northern Colorado in 1996 and has over 11 years of experience working in stroke and brain injury rehabilitation with adolescents, adults and the older population. Heather specializes in the evaluation and treatment of neurologic disorders in swallowing, speech, communication and cognition. She also specializes in working with parents and families of children birth to three years of age to facilitate speech-language development. In her spare time, Heather enjoys the outdoors, hiking, skiing, fishing, as well as, cheering with her husband as they watch their twin boys play hockey. Valerie Rosen, Certified Speech-Language Pathologist Greetings! My name is Valerie Rosen. I have been practicing as a speech-language pathologist since 1995. I received my bachelor’s degree from Colorado State University-Ft. Collins in 1992 and my master’s degree from Ft. Hays State University in Hays, Kansas in 1995. I completed my internship and clinical fellowship year at Parkview Medical Center and continued to work in both the inpatient and outpatient settings until 2001. During my time at Parkview, I worked with both adults and children. I took a special interest in working with adults with cognitive, communicative and swallowing disorders related to head injury and stroke. Although I loved working with adults, I decided to try my hand with very young children and joined Colorado Bluesky Enterprises Infant-Toddler Center in 1999. I gained much of my pediatric experience working with children ages birth to three in their most natural environment-their home! It was here that I learned how much I enjoyed helping parents to help their children to communicate. In 2003, I felt the need to expand my horizons a bit, so I joined Care by The Children’s Hospital –Pueblo, a satellite clinic of The Children’s Hospital in Denver. Since joining Children’s, I have gained an amazing amount of knowledge and clinical skills especially in the areas of augmentative communication, oral feeding disorders, childhood apraxia of speech, basic sign language and autism. I am a certified instructor for It Takes Two to Talk- The Hanen Program for Parents and I have received my certificate of mastery in the Basic Course on the DIR ®/Floortime TM Model through the Interdisciplinary Council on Developmental and Learning Disorders (ICDL). Now that 2009 is coming to an end and a new year begins, I have the great fortune to join the team at Bellwether Nutrition and Rehabilitative Services, Inc., so that I can once again work with adults- my first love. I will continue dividing my time between Colorado Bluesky Infant Toddler Center and Care by the Children’s Hospital-Pueblo. My husband Mark and I, both native to Pueblo, live on the eastern plains of Pueblo County where we enjoy spending time with our furry and feathered friends (4 wonderful dogs, 5 ornery cats, and too many birds to count).
